Dr. Samuel Margoshes, noted Jewish writer, was elected chairman of the Congress for Jewish Culture at a meeting of its Board of Directors, it was announced here today. The Congress promotes Yiddish culture in the United States and in other countries.
In a statement of acceptance, Dr. Margoshes called upon American Jewry to help strengthen the promotion of Yiddish culture in this country and in other lands.” We must see to it that our young generation should take an interest in the Yiddish language and literature as part of the great culture which we inherited and which we want to transmit to our children and grandchildren,” he said.
