Dr. Melkus, president of the Vienna Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, issued a statement today in which he denies that the decision taken by the Society several days ago asking for enactment of schechita prohibition is due to anti-Semitism. This is proven by the fact that our Jewish members are supporting this decision, he said.
It was declared today that the Jewish communal board of Vienna will take steps to counteract the anti-schechita propaganda.
