Dr. Abraham Jacob Rongy, prominent Jewish leader and eminent gynecologist, was reported "critically ill" late today at Mt. Sinai Hospital following a heart attack. He is 71 years of age.
Dr. Rongy, who was an innovator of new methods of treatment and surgery in gynecology, was at one time a vice-president of the American Jewish Congress, chairman of the national council of the Zionist Organization of America, a leading member of the American Jewish Committee, a director of the Joint Distribution Committee and a member of the board of directors of the Conference of Jewish Relations. He also served as chairman of the American section of the OSE, Jewish health society.
