Dr. Sterling W. Brown, an educator, Protestant clergyman, and former Government consultant, was elected today as president of the National Conference of Christians and Jews. He will assume his new post on July 1, succeeding Dr. Lewis Webster Jones who retired after serving since 1958.
Currently executive vice-president of the NCCJ, Dr. Brown, an ordained minister, was formerly professor of religion at the University of Oklahoma, and had served as chairman of the department of religion at Drake University. Between 1947 and 1951, he served on various U.S. missions to Germany as an expert on intergroup relations.
