The Society of Friends of the Hebrew University here held their annual meeting this evening with Dr. Weizmann as the chief speaker. Dr. Weizmann discussed the need for growth of the Hebrew University, particularly in relation to the deplorable position of the Jewish students in Eastern and Central Europe.
Sir Philip Hartog, who presided, disclosed that Dr. Weizmann had consented to go to Jerusalem for the purpose of taking charge of the new Agricultural Institute affiliated with the Hebrew University.
Dr. Weizmann, speaking on the importance of the new Agricultural Institute, declared that the Institute had its own budget, but he hoped that the Government also would grant it a subsidy, so as to enable it to carry on its work which was for the general benefit of the country.
