A human “lend-lease” program of 5,000 skilled American Jews to go to Israel will be proposed by Rabbi Samuel Wohl, veteran Labor Zionist leader, to the forthcoming second National Assembly for Labor Israel, which meets in New York, Dec. 16, he revealed this week-end.
Dr. Wohl, chairman of the national planning committee of the Assembly, who recently visited Israel, suggests that the 5,000 persons should be sought in the major American cities on an allocation hasis, in the manner of United Jewish Appeal campaign allocations. He also proposes that the 5,000 serve a year and be replaced each year by another 5.000.
