Gen. Lewis B. Hershey, director of the Selective Service System, has informed the National Jewish Welfare Board that all draft boards throughout the country have been requested to give “favorable consideration, wherever possible,” to requests from Jewish registrants for postponement of physical examination or induction into the armed forces during Passover.
Jewish registrants scheduled for examination or induction immediately before or during the holiday have the right to request deferment until after Passover.
