Cyrus L. Sulzberger declares in a Budapest dispatch to the New York Times that despite the Slovakian Government’s anti-Jewish policy, “the impression received was that there was little real anti-Semitism among the Slovaks but that the idea was being encouraged by the Gestapo and the Hlinka Guards. For the moment it is economically impossible to try any such drastic measures as have been effected against the Jews in Germany.”
