A four-point program with a view to eliminate misunderstanding among Jews, Protestants and Catholics, will b launched in Washington at the same time the program get under way in leading cities throughut the country.
Plans for the campaign were announced by prosfessor Boyd Carpenter, chairman of the local comittee of the National Conference of Jews and Christians. The plans were prepared under the direction of Newton D. Baker, cochairman of the conference.
The plan is an utgrowth of a recent tour of 38 cities by a Catholie priest, a rabbi and a Protestant minister. Permannent committees, lay and elerical leaders, have been organized in 35 cities.
1 To suggest to high schools, both public and private, that they invite a prist a rabbi and a mnister to appear together befor assemblies and speak on “The American Tradition of Religious Freedom” during the week of George Washington’s birthday.
2 To encourage church and synagogue youth to organiz to dicuss civic relationships of Protestants, Catholics and Jews.
3. To extend college and city “seminars” and round-table programs.
4 To form a women’s committee of 1,000 state leaders, headed by Mrs. Dorothy Canfield Fisher, which would paralled the existing men’s advisory council of 1,000.
Among those on the Washington committee in charge of the program are Mauriee. Dr Rosenberh. Rosa F. Downing, and Miss Katherine F. Lenroot.
