French Foreign Minister Christian Pineau said today after a lengthy discussion of the Suez Canal issue with Secretary of State Dulles that the question of an Israeli test of the canal was not discussed. “We didn’t talk about the Israeli problem at all–it is completely separate from the problem now before the Security Council,” he stated.
Mr. Pineau said he and Secretary Dulles were in “complete agreement” on the methods of dealing with the Suez matter at the Security Council. However, he refused to make known what future developments may emerge. State Department spokesman Joseph Reap later said that Dulles and Pineau were in agreement on strategy to be pursued at the Security Council.
