A fist fight between Jews and uniformed Dutch Nazis in a synagogue in The Hague developed into an anti-Nazi demonstration in which Dutch Christians joined the fighting Jews and ejected the Nazis from the synagogue premises, the press here reports today.
The Nazis invaded the synagogue and started to destroy scrolls and prayer books and to demolish ritual articles. Some of the older Jews in the synagogue called for help and young Jewish men from the neighborhood rushed to the place to aid their parents in resisting the Nazis. The battle soon attracted the attention of passing non-Jews and crowds of non-Jewish civilians joined with the Jews and forced the Nazis to retreat.
