Mrs. Wijsmuller-Meijer, a prominent Dutch non-Jew who saved thousands of Jewish children from murder at the hands of the Nazis, was honored here today at a luncheon in the House of Commons.
Mr. Wijsmuller-Meijer, a resident of Amsterdam, was described by the Netherlands Government when it awarded her the Order of Orange Nassau as one of the four most courageous women in Holland during the Nazi occupation. She has also been honored by the French Government for her wartime exploits, which involved traveling all over Europe from her home as far east as Germany and far south as the French-Spanish frontier.
