Emerich B. Freed, prominent Jewish attorney, was sworn in as United States District Attorney here. Mr. Freed, who is 35 years old, is the youngest man ever to hold the post here and is believed to be one of the youngest United States Attorneys now in office.
Several hundred civic, political and communal leaders attended a testimonial dinner to Mr. Freed at which the speakers’ list included Mayor Ray T. Miller, Judge Manuel Levine, Homer G. Powell, chief justice of the common pleas court and Judge Maurice Bernon.
