Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe can freely enter Brazil, declared Dr. Julio Prestes, president-elect of Brazil, in a statement to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency here today. The Brazilian president-elect, who has spent several days in the United States as the guest of President Hoover, said in his statement:
“The Brazilian government places no obstacles whatsoever in the way of European Jews who wish to emigrate to Brazil.”
Asked as to the present situation of the Jews in Brazil, the president-elect stated that “the Jews in Brazil enjoy the same citizenship rights as do all other Brazilian citizens.”
Dr. Prestes leaves today on the “Olympic” for Europe.
