A community of East European Jews now resident in Metz was formed at a meeting held in that city.
The Jewish population of a##etz consists of 500 immigrant families from Eastern Europe, mainly from Gailcia.
The former Chief Rabbi of Petrograd. Dr. Aisenstadt, who is now the Rabbi of the Community of Russian Jews in Paris. Grand Rabbi Netter, and the President of the Community of French Jews, participated in the meeting.
Two hundred members of the new community were enrolled.
It was decided to establish during the coming school year a Talmud Torah for the Jewish children of Metz. concentrate in the hands of the community the whole of the Jewish relief work in the town, create a Jewish arbitration tribunal, etc.
