THE JEWISH POPULATION OF AUSTRIA WAS CONCERNED TODAY OVER A NEWLY ISSUED ORDER FORESHADOWING A REVISION OF ALL NATURALIZATIONS GRANTED AFTER THE SIGNING OF THE ST. GERMAIN TREATY, ONE OF WHOSE EFFECTS WILL BE ANNULMENT OF CITIZENSHIP RIGHTS OF JEWS WHO IMMIGRATED FROM EASTERN EUROPE.
THE REGULATIONS PROVIDE THAT NEW PASSPORTS WILL BE ISSUED ONLY TO PERSONS ABLE TO PRODUCE RESIDENCE CERTIFICATES ISSUED BEFORE JULY 16, 1920. RESIDENCE CERTIFICATES ISSUED AFTER THAT DATE WILL BE CHECKED TO ASCERTAIN WHETHER NATURALIZATIONS GRANTED AFTER THE TREATY ARE STILL VALID.
