Eastern leaders of three Jewish organizations will gather at the St Charles Hotel here May 24 for a series of conferences which will last for one week.
An attendance of 1,000 is hoped for, from the National Association of Jewish Center Executives, National Conference of Jewish Social Service and National Council for Jewish Education.
Dr. Isador Lubin, commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U. S. Department of Labor, will come from Washington to present “some implications of recent economic trends,” at the Sunday morning session, May 27.
Rabbi Aaron G. Robison of Newark and Harvey Colden of Montreal, Canada, are among the opening day speakers, focussing on the work of Jewish Centers. That subject will continue through Friday and Saturday, along with discussions of modern social and economic planning.
After Dr. Lubin on sunday, B. Charney Vladeck of New York, will relate the effect of recent economic trends on Jewish labor; Drs. Paul Abelson and N. I. Stone of New York on the middle classes, and Professor Morris R. Cohen of the College of the City of New York on the Jewish professional groups.
Monday’s sessions will be devoted to discussions of child welfare and leisure-time programs for the Jewish community of today. Speakers are scheduled from Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Baltimore, New York, Boston and Chicago.
The two final days will center around internal business of the three organizations.
