Israel delegate to the United Nations Abba Eban conferred yesterday with UN Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold on Arab-Israel problems and the consequences of Gen. William E. Riley’s resignation as head of the Palestine truce set-up, Ambassador Eben today told a press conference.
Mr. Eban said that he had been impressed by Mr. Hammarskjold’s knowledge of Middle East problems and his sympathetic attitude toward Israel. The Ambassador also revealed that he had conferred yesterday with Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr., head of the American delegation at the UN, on similar problems.
Mrs. Golda Myerson, Israel’s Minister of Labor, who came to the U.S. to head temporarily the Israel delegation at the UN during the debate on the Communist anti-Jewish campaign, today underwent an emergency operation.
