Former Israeli Foreign Minister Abba Eban, in a delayed statement, expressed resentment over recent attacks upon him in the Knesset, and branded the accusations, as rumors. In a statement to Philip Slomovitz, editor of The Detroit Jewish News, Eban referred to the attacks upon him as “McCarthyist virulence.” He stated, in refuting the accusations that the Israel Embassy in Washington requested that he entertain top-level American officials during a recent U.S. visit, Eban was criticized for his expenses, and the Israel government forced him to repay them.
