Foreign Minister Abba Eban returned early this morning from his American visit. He refused at first to reply to newsmen’s questions, but later told them that he was “satisfied” with the talks he had in Washington. He said each side restated its position and that he found a wide range of problems on which the United States and Israel “see eye to eye.” Eban repeated a denial by the Foreign Ministry yesterday that he had met with United Nations mediator Dr. Gunnar V. Jarring in London. The rumor, circulated by some news agencies, stemmed from a nine-hour delay in Eban’s return to Israel. Dr. Jarring flew to Paris from Moscow on Tuesday for a meeting with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Mahmoud Riad. Eban dismissed the meeting as an unimportant, routine event. He replied negatively when asked if he thought the Jarring mission had ended. Political sources here said there was no need for an Eban-Jarring meeting at this time since they had touched on all problems during their meeting in New York two weeks ago.
