Foreign Minister Abba S, Eban returned tonight from New York to report to the Government and the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Security Committee on developments affecting Israel during the general debate in the United Nations General Assembly. He will report to a special Cabinet meeting tomorrow.

The foreign minister said that Israel policy would be for maintenance of the present situation until peace agreements could replace the cease-fire agreements and permanent borders replace the present cease-fire lines.

He told reporters at Lod International Airport that, while some governments still maintained a “negative attitude” toward Israel, there was increasing understanding among the governments of Israel’s demand for permanent peace as a condition of agreement to any changes in the present situation.
