Jewish charities were bequeathed $7,000 according to the terms of the will of the late Edmond E. Wise, whose estate was filed for appraisal at the New York State Transfer Tax Department yesterday. Mr. Wise died on July 22, 1932.
The late philanthropist willed $5,000 to the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies, which is to distribute the fund to various charities. Distribution will be directed by Mr. Wise’s widow, Mrs. Irene K. Wise of Elberon, N. J.
Another $2,000 will be paid from the estate to the Hebrew Orphan Asylum.
According to the appraisal, the estate is valued at $430,054 gross and $223,261 net. Of this Mrs. Wise is to receive $75,000 in cash and all household properties, while a daughter, Miss Ethel H. Wise, 815 Park avenue, is bequeathed $23,000.
The will requested that in the event of appreciation of value of the estate due to improved economic conditions Mrs. Wise make further contributions to charity.
