Jonah Goldstein was welcomed home from Palestine, where he had gone as the personal representative of Felix Warburg to make arrangements for the distribution of the Palestine Emergency Relief Fund, Wednesday night at a dinner in the Hotel Biltmore given by the Jewish Educational Association in whose activities Mr. Goldstein has long been prominent.
A donation of $10,000 for a scholarship fund was announced at the dinner as coming from the Ivriah, the women’s section of the Jewish Educational Association. The announcement was made by Mrs. Gabriel Hamburger, chairman of Ivriah. Other speakers were David Mosessohn, editor of the “Jewish Tribune;” David Sarnoff, vicepresident of the Radio Corporation of America, and Bernard Semel, honorary secretary of the Jewish Educational Society, all of whom praised Mr. Goldstein’s services.
Felix Warburg in connection with Mr. Goldstein’s work in Palestine said he had obtained much valuable information of conditions in that country as the result of Mr. Goldstein’s trip. In passing Mr. Warburg remarked that what was needed in Palestine was peace above everything else.
