Edward Sharf, Zionist and civic leader former national president of Bnai Zion, the American fraternal Zionist organization, died here last evening at the age of 58. He served as president of Bnai Zion from 1964 through 1967 and was prominent in many major endeavors in behalf of Israel and the Zionist movement. At the time of his death he was chairman of the America-Israel Friendship House and was active as campaign leader of the United Jewish Appeal and the Israel Bond Organization.
Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Sharf was a member of the Executive of the American Section of the World Jewish Congress and of the American Zionist Federation. In tribute to his contributions toward the rehabilitation of handicapped children, both in this country and in Israel, a modern building was recently erected in his name in the Bnai Zion Home for Retarded Children in Rosh Ha’ayin, Israel, housing 400 retardates, which is financed by the Bnai Zion Foundation.
