Egypt has agreed to permit Jewish supply convoys to cross Egyptian lines in the Negev to bring food and other necessities to the settlements cut off in the desert, it vas announced today by Gen. Aage Lundstroem, chief aide to U.N. mediator Count Folke Bernadotte.
The same conditions will prevail as were set during the first truce — U.N. observers will check the truck loads, advance notice of arrival and neither Jewish nor Egyptian liaison personnel will be permitted to cross enemy lines. The use of planes for supplying the settlements is forbidden, except with the permission of the U.N. chief of staff and only when the load can he checked and advance notice given the Egyptians.
