Egyptian Academy Opens Doors to the Chief Rabbi

Chief Rabbi Haim Nahum Effendi has been appointed a member of the Egyptian Academy by the Egyptian government. He is the first Jew to be admitted to the Academy, which is modeled after the French Academy.

Rabbi Effendi, a close personal friend of King Fuad, is widely recognized as a scholar and teacher.
