Thirty-four of a group of 49 Jews detained by the Egyptian Government have been freed and have already reached Italy, it was reported today by Egyptian Army officers serving on the mixed Israeli-Egyptian armistice commission. The report was made at a meeting in the Negev.
(A new exodus of Jews from Egypt is now under way, the Cairo correspondent of the London News–Chronicle reported today. Following the suspension of the Egyptian Government’s ban on the issuance of exit visas, which was announced last week, approximately 300 persons–most of them Jews–have been leaving the country daily, the dispatch added.)
