Egyptian press reports that the United States was considering a proposal for an early warning system in southern Lebanon near the Israeli border were sidestepped at the State Department Wednesday. A spokesman said that discussions about southern Lebanon were taking place with Syria, Lebanon and Israel but that this particular idea was one that could not be confirmed or denied.
