Eliahu Elath, Israel Minister to Britain, addressing a golden jubilee dinner of the Jewish National Fund here, declared today that the “creation of the state of Israel was the combined operation of Jews in Israel and Jews throughout the world.” He warned that “unless the venture remains a combined operation, we will not be able to achieve the goal for which Jews have been praying and waiting for 2,000 years.”
Landing the J.N.F. ‘s role in “laying the foundations of the state,” Mr. Elath said that “if we do not do things, and do them quickly, God knows what will happen to Israel and to Jews throughout the world.” The dinner also honored Aaron Wright, president of the J.N.F. in Britain, who resigned and will leave to settle permanently in Israel.
