A party of eight mayors of American cities, returning yesterday from a three-week tour of the Middle East, revealed that they had been impressed by Israel’s efforts to improve the standard of living of its people.
Mayor William B. Hartsfield of Atlanta, head of the group, declared that Israel, Turkey and Greece stood out among the Middle East nations for their efforts to improve living conditions. “Israel is working furiously,” Mayor Hartsfield said. The tour was sponsored by the American Municipal Association.
