The trial of eight men on Nazi war crimes charges started in Sagreb, the capital of the Croatian province of Yugoslavia.
The defendants are charged with having prepared lists of names of Yugoslav Jews in advance of the German invasion of Yugoslavia and thus to have helped in the deportation and murder of Jews named in the lists. A number of Jewish survivors will testify during the trial.
