Prof. Albert Einstein gave a violin concert here before three thousand people, gathered in the largest Jewish temple of this city. Professor Einstein gave the concert for the benefit of the Jewish charities, and while he was performing he wore the traditional “yarmelke,” or skullcap, worn in the synagogue.
Before Professor Einstein played, Herman Jadlowker, former star of the German Royal Opera House, sang some Hebrew prayers in masterly fashion. Jadlowker has been engaged as “Oberkantor,” or Chief Cantor, of the temple.
