An E1 A1 Bristol Britannia today again cracked the world record for transatlantic flights by commercial passenger aircraft. An E1 A1 “whispering giant,” piloted by Capt. Sam. Goldstein and carrying a payload of 51 passengers and one and a half tons of freight and mail, made the New York to London run in seven hours, 44 minutes.

The new record clipped 13 minutes off one set a few days ago by a British Overseas Airways Corporation Britannia, and thus returned the crown to Israel. The British plane had made the trip in seven hours, 57 minutes which bettered a week’s-old E1 A1 record of eight hours three minutes.
