Barred from one synagogue because it had been embalmed and held seven days for burial, the body of Rev. Albert Karniol, noted cantor, was buried Sunday. Ten thousand attended the funeral, which was held from the Hunts Point Jewish Center after Temple Chasm Sofer refused to permit burial from its synagogue. Sixty-five members of the Modern Cantor’s Association were present. The body had been held to await the arrival of the late Cantor’s daughter, Mrs. Gissel Holstein, to arrive here from Europe. Cantor Karniol was 78. The Rev. H. Goldstein of Temple Beth Elchim was in charge of the ceremonies.
