Chris Spilitios, thirty – seven years old, of 995 Eastern Parkway Brooklyn, was charged with assault in the Gates Avenue Court yesterday. The complainant was Harvey Hirsch, eleven years old, of the same address. Spilitios was accused of striking the boy in the face.
Nathaniel Seligman, attorney for the boy, asserted that “this man has been spreading Hitlerite propaganda in the neighborhood and told the boy’s father that he is willing to pay $100 for each Jewish boy he beat up.”
William Hirsch, father of Harvey, presented a petition to the court signed by twenty neighbors complaining that Spilitios had struck their children.
Magistrate Jeanette G. Brill set bail in the case at $300 for further hearing on November 12.
