Vladimir Tsukerman and Osip Lokshin, two Soviet refusenik activists, have each been convicted and sentenced to three-year terms in a labor camp, it was reported by the National Conference on Soviet Jewry. A maximum sentence of six years imprisonment was possible.
The trial, which began Sept. 22 in the Moldavian Supreme Court, stemmed from charges contending that the Kishinev activists defamed the Soviet state and participated in actions that violated the public order. Neither Tsukerman nor Lokshin will be granted appeals, the National Conference reported.
