The Warsaw Jewish newspaper Folkstimme revealed today that its circulation has dropped in the city of Wroclaw, one of the major Jewish centers in Poland. The paper attributed the decline to the fact that a part of the Jewish population of the city had emigrated to Israel while the newly arrived Jewish repatriates from Russia are in no financial position to buy a newspaper.
Folkstimme also hinted that the post office in Wroclaw has sabotaged delivery of the newspaper to mail subscribers. It reports that mailmen have not delivered the paper for a full month, and when asked by the subscribers why the newspapers were not delivered, claimed that the paper “had not arrived.”
