England’s fuel crisis, with the consequent closing down of a section of the weekly press, has left the country without any Jewish publications, with the exception of the Yiddish-language daily, the “Jewish Times,”which circulates almost exclusively in London’s East End.
Representations to the authorities by leaders of the rabbinate and the Board of Deputies of British Jews have been unavailing. One of the principal victims is the London Jewish Chroniole, which is now in its 106th year. It is not expected that the ban will be lifted for at least two weeks.
