Solomon Aschkenazy, local merchant and shipper, announced yesterday he is giving the British Government five per cent of all his profits to be used for defense of the Empire. An additional five per cent will go to charity irrespective of creed and “not excluding Palestine,” he declared.
Aschkenazy is an Austrian Jew who became a British subject 36 years ago.
