An entire American Yeshiva, the Yeshivat Rabbi Israel Meir Hacohen, left for Israel tonight from Kennedy International Airport. Led by Rabbi Chanoch Alter Leibowitz, the Rosh Hayeshiva (Dean) of the Yeshiva, the 35-man group of scholars was accompanied by 22 wives and children.
This group of 57 is the first entire American Yeshiva to leave for Israel, the Jewish Agency here noted. Rabbi Leibowitz is a son of the late Rabbi David Hacohen Leibowitz, the founder of the Yeshiva. The group will locate in a converted building in the Beth Hakerem section of Jerusalem.
