Ephraim Caplan, Noted Jewish Journalist, Dies in New York

Ephraim Caplan, noted Jewish journalist and a member of the editorial staff of the Jewish Morning Journal since 1980, died here last night after a long illness. He was buried today at the Mount Judah Cemetery, Queens.

Born in Lithuania 65 years ago, Caplan started his journalistic career on Hebrew newspapers in Russia. He came to the United States in 1901 and joined the editorial staff of the Jewish Daily News in New York. An ardent Zionist, he was president of the Council for Orthodox Jewish Education and a member of the administrative committee of the Mizrachi Zionist Organization of America. He had also been a director of the Jewish National Fund of America and helped in the establishment of the Yeshiva College.
