The Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States will vote within the next week on a formal expression of sympathy and good will toward the Jewish race.
A resolution to this effect was introduced by the Rev. R. O. Kevin of Kirkwood, Ill., at the fifty-first triennial general convention in progress here, and won the applause of several thousand delegates representing 3,000,000 communicants. It was referred to a joint commission on social service, appointed today from the House of Bishops and House of Deputies, and will be included in some form in a report to be brought out on the floor by this body. The wording follows:
“Resolved, that the House of Bishops concurring, the General Convention of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America offers to the people of the Jewish race throughout the world its profound sympathy for the sacrifices, impoverishment and suffering that they have endured at the hands of nationalistic and racially prejudiced groups.
“That it recognizes the debt it owes to the religious genius of the Jewish people, a genius that was
