Prime Minister Levi Eshkol said in an interview with the newspaper Maariv published today that he believes President Johnson will supply Israel with Phantom jets. Mr. Eshkol said that if the President does not do so before the Presidential election, he will do so afterward. “President Johnson is a strong personality who never breaks his promises,” Mr. Eshkol added.
The Prime Minister also advocated the continuation of the present Government of national unity. Regarding his relations with Defense Minister Gen. Moshe Dayan, he said that he believes Gen. Dayan would continue serving in a Cabinet headed by him after the elections just as Gen. Dayan is doing now.
