Israel Finance Minister Levi Eshkol will leave for the United States April 8 to ask the American Jewish communities to seek an additional consolidation loan for $50,000,000 for Israel, a Ministry spokesman revealed today.
In 1954 the communities obtained a $75,000,000 loan for Israel which they underwrote and repaid from United Jewish Appeal revenues. Subsequently, they were able to obtain similar loans and now there is about $50,000,000 outstanding. Mr. Eshkol will ask an increase to the $100,000,000 figure.
While in this country, the Finance Minister will also confer with United States government officials in Washington and with Israel Bond Organization leaders.
