Meanwhile, the Congress decided to establish a colony in Palestine bearing the name of Henrietta Szold of Baltimore, disting-uished woman Zionist leader, in appreciation of her work in aiding settlement of German-Jewish children in Palestine. The resolution for this colony was adopted unanimously.
The suggestion was made by Dr. Chaim Weizmann, president of the Congress, after Miss Szold had reported about the settlement of children in Palestine. Her report was hailed enthusiastically by the German delegates.
Dr. Weizmann greeted Miss Szold on the platform on the occasion of her seventy-fifth birthday as the audience of delegates and guests gave her an ovation.
Miss Szold disclosed that #53,000 have been assigned her to conduct her work. She reported that 713 children have already been settled in various Palestine colonies.
