The Jews of Estonia find themselves in a dilemma, being forced, in the interest of national minority rights, to work together with the German minority against the project to introduce a numerus clausus in the Estonian University.
The numerus clausus demanded is directed mainly against the Germans and is aimed to prevent Nazi influence in the Estonian University. As a result the Jewish students have been placed in an awkward position. While on the one hand they find it extremely difficult to cooperate with the Germans, their minority interests, on the other hand, demand that they cooperate with them.
The Jewish cultural Self-Administration has submitted a memorandum to the Minister of Education on this question. The Estonian press has adopted a very skeptical attitude toward the entire project which has been submitted by the Student Parliament to the Minister of Education.
