A meeting of the European council of the General Zionists opened here this week-end with delegates from 14 countries on the Continent attending.
In his opening address Dr. Nahum Goldmann, diplomatic representative of Israel told the parley that it must be expected that any concessions made by the Israeli government will be denounced by the extremists in Israel. He declared that a middle of the road party was needed in Israel. Reviewing the role of the United States in the Israeli situation, he asserted that the United States is likely to become “less No-Zionist in the future because of oil” diplomacy. Prof. Selig Brodetsky, member of the Jewish Agency branch in London, and Ignacy Schwartzbart, World Jewish Congress leader, also spoke.
