Russian Jewish leaders resident in France joined in sending felicitations to Louis Marshall on the occasion of his seventieth birthday.
Heinrich Sliosberg, well-known Russian Jewish jurist, declared: “The name of Louis Marshall is bound up with the improvement of the situation of the Jews which set in in recent years. After the death of Jacob Schiff, Mr. Marshall became the chief spokesman of American Jewry in the interest of the Jewish people. I wish Mr. Marshall many more years of work.”
“What struck me most when I met Mr. Marshall was his youthful enthusiasm,” declared Rabbi M. Eisenstadt, former chief rabbi of Petrograd. “I value greatly Mr. Marshall’s services for the Jews of Eastern Europe and I hope that his services will be as great for Palestine.
