Eve would have been acquitted and not expelled from the Garden of Eden if she had had a good criminal lawyer to defend her, according to Jacob L. Bernstein, local attorney, in a pamphlet just published here.

Mother Eve had a good reputation up to the commission of the alleged offense,” Bernstein writes. “The applicable principles demand that the transgression … be condoned unreservedly. There was no crime, entrapment being shown.”

Bernstein argues that the serpent was invested with proper authority in Genesis, 1, 24, which reads: “God made the beasts of the earth of its kind, and everything that creepeth upon the ground after its kind; and God saw that it was good.”
