Evidences of the presence of prehistoric man in Palestine 500,000 years ago have been discovered in excavations near Bethlehem by Rene Neuville, French Consul General, who has been conducting archaeological investigations in the area under a special permit from King Abdullah of Transjordan.

The find was made in a cave formed during the third glacial period after which the “Tayacian man” appeared. The findings were so named because of more or less similar discoveries near the village of Tayac in France, A British expedition some years ago found somewhat similar remains near Mount Carmel.
